it's been too long.

wow, yeah I’m kind of a slacker. I’ve been super busy and not busy all at the same time. it's stressful. anyway...last week's Wednesday adventure day we went to Japan town with Brenton. it was fun, only the sushi wasn’t that good. can you imagine?

no parking day or nite

then we went back to his house and watched skate videos. ive read 3 books since my last blog. and kate got a moped. it's amazing. I’m in love and have to have one. we went out to eat Thai with sally and Larissa a couple times. and helped Larissa put together her Ikea furniture. my dad came into town and we went to a giants vs padres game. the giants lost. surprising huh? the next day we went to haight to eat at the pork store but they were filming a movie there. I’ve tried to go there at least 4 times and still have no success. we also went to the botanical gardens which we were disappointed in. then he took kate and i to Berkeley for our Wednesday adventure day and kate and i shopped on telegraph (where all the hippies hung out, including my mom) all day. it was great, we found some cool stuff. then we came back and brenton and david came over after skating i threw grapes up for everyone to catch for about 40 minutes and they took kate’s moped for a spin. Later, kate and i were headed to Pop's on her moped and it died on us and Eric had to come save us. kate and i ended up having to push it to his house and he has to work on. it was a very sad and cold night.

grandma's give good advice

yesterday, i took BART to the east bay (walnut creek to be exact) to see my grandma and mom. (my mom drives down to the bay area every other week to see her and sometimes i come too.) we went out to lunch and talked a whole lot. my grandma told me stories during the war when her husband was gone and she had to work at the oil refinery and raise the kids (5). she told me about how men would come back and they would have to teach them their jobs and these men would get paid twice what they did for the same job. when the men came back they were automatically out of jobs.

she also told me about the women's rights movements and how she wished shed been apart of them. i also got lots of advice about men, which im not going to mention. when i got back i went by my favorite book shop called Green Apple. it is amazing...ask and ill take you there. kate wanted to go look at a moped Geoff's roommate was selling and i went with. we got into long conversations with the roommate (Eric) about drive-ins and the ex-publication, now website he works for http://Chow Magazine and were then going to go crabbing. well, it got late and i decided to go to bed instead.

today i finished a book (Shop Girl by Steve Martin) when i woke up, (which i was going to read in it's entirety yesterday, had it not been for the moped) then i decided id draw and paint while listening to Robert Johnson (check him out). i finally made something for Brenton, since he made me something a month or two ago. after that i made myself some salmon and rice and watched a documentary on John Lennon. THEN i read another book (Franny and Zooey by JD Salinger). now, i think ill go to bed. i am happy with today.

i need this

the other day Geoff came over and we all went out to lunch. that was nice, i havent seen geoff in too long. and then he paid for our lunches! what a gentleman.

yesterday, after work, brenton came over with some skate videos. we all chatted and laughed and watched and cringed and were amazed. i made dinner. we watched more and discussed proven facts. we went and got ice cream and i became absolutely enamored with super 8 video cameras. i need one.

planet parties

last night there was a party for Planet magazine's new issue. free drinks with rum from 7 til 9. kate and i got there at about 8:55. we met gino and clay and some of their friends there. gino and friends had to leave shortly. clay stayed and danced the night away with us. we met this guy, Michael...he was the key gay guy in the group next to us. he came over and danced with us, but i guess he was sent over to get kate and i to go talk to the guys over there. we said no, that they can come talk to us. well, that didnt happen. but Michael stayed and danced. then zach, janice and her friend, joel came. we danced for a little bit then left. me, kate and clay danced our little hearts out until just about closing (2am). heres a little video of michael, clay and kate.

a day alone

yesterday was also a beatiful day in san francisco. i layed on the roof in the sun, went for a run and then kate and i went to costco and trader joes. we were driving there and saw gushing water, it was exciting...

it was a very productive day. i then met kate and jones down at solstice (apparently monday is half off botttles of wine day). by the time i got there they had ordered their second bottle and i had a glass and a half and had a small dish. there was a small dog outside the window some mean man had left and watched from inside. it was shaking and scared and he just had an evil grin as he watched it for an hour. we finished up and i met zach at the fillmore. jen was also there with one of her friends. she told stories of growing up together and they were very entertaining to me. i love that girl.

today was a day about me, myself and i. i woke up, went to work and then walked over to the SFMOMA(san francisco museum of modern art) by myself. then, i walked to the bus and went a restaurant i had been wanted to try. let me tell you...it was amazing. i got the salmon with lebonese potatoes and a latte. it was glorious. then, of course, i had to get dessert. i got a piece of the flourless chocolate cake and oh my gosh...one of the best things ive had in my life. i am going back just to get that again. i really enjoyed the day by myself, i think ill do it more often.

wednesdays off

well, i now have every wednesday off so kate and i decided there should be a new adventure every wednesday. so, on this last one we decided to go to good ol' Reno, NV. the Biggest Little City in the World. we end up leaving around 10:30 and get to the Sierra's and it starts raining (great, we're in tanks and jeans). only wait..it's not raining...it's snowing! kates starts taking pictures with my camera but then finds out i forgot my memory card at home. so we continue going and looking in awe at the snow in june. finally, 3.5 hours later we get to reno. it is glorious! it is like the old pictures of las vegas. so without a map we figure the city out and follow kates guide to vintage shopping. everything works out great and i get lots and lots of lennon albums and other greatness. kate got some records as well, and also a book case and some clothes. next stop...BUFFET. and guess what! it was crab and steak night at the Atlantis! the crab was magical and tasty and we made a mess of ourselves and ate until we were going to pop, then realized why Americans are so fat. we decided we would only gamble $6 and went off to explore. that only lasted about 5 minutes. and we went back to the car exhausted and anxious to get back to smoke free California.

leaving the warmth

well, it is now time to say goodbye to chico and the glory of the summer heat and doing nothing but swimming all day. Tubing is a very wonderful and beautiful experience. i enjoyed it very much. during my trip i got to hangout with ben lots, see jon play(as always), chillaxed with the brighten boys, and see my girls. my dad and i went to an amazing dinner and also went wine tasting. i cooked a scallop and fried eggplant dinner from my new Curtis Stone cook book for my mom. sam's birthday was great until some unwelcome guests came, but all was good and we eventually made our way downtown. sam had way too much to drink and ended up throwing up and crying. she wasnt allowed into a bar because she was too drunk. so, naturally, we had to try to get her into another. we did, and quite shortly left.
